Vehicle accidents can be caused by distracted driving

New technology in the vehicles San Antonio residents buy makes it easier for them to pair cellphones with their cars' electronics systems and operate their phones in a hands-free format. These advancements are intended to make driving while talking on the phone safer but, unfortunately, they are not available in all models of all vehicles on the roads. They are also not generally equipped with functions that allow drivers to safely do the multitude of other distracting behaviors they often engage in while they are driving their vehicles.

If a driver turns their attention away from the road in order to answer a phone, read a text, speak to a passenger, eat or attend to personal grooming, then they are likely engaged in the dangerous practice of distracted driving. In some cases, distracted driving may be a crime, but more significant is the threat that it poses to innocent parties who must share the roads with distracted and negligent drivers.

When a driver's eyes are distracted, then they are not on the road before them. When drivers take their attention away from what is in front of them, they can miss traffic signals and signage, fail to stop their vehicles before colliding with others, and cause damaging and dangerous car accidents.

A distracted driving accident can cause a victim significant injuries and hardships. They may suffer significant physical harm in their collision and may experience property damage to their car. They may be unable to work or care for their family members, all of which can put financial and emotional strain on their already taxed physical state.

After a distracted driving accident, a victim may wish to file a legal claim based on their personal injuries and losses as well as the negligence exhibited by the distracted driver. With the support of a personal injury attorney, a victim may be able to receive financial compensation for their accident-related expenses and find relief in the wake of their traumatic ordeals.
